A business card is the one piece of marketing that gets handed over in person, and the first thing anyone judges is how it feels. Ours are printed on 400gsm board - about twice the thickness of the cards that come free with an online order - and laminated on both sides, so they come back out of a wallet months later without a soft corner or a scuffed edge.
Full colour, double-sided as standard, in matt or gloss. Matt is the quieter of the two and will take a pen if you write on your cards; gloss lifts photography and strong colour. Both are 85 × 55 mm - the size every wallet and card holder is already built for, and the size the card you get handed back will be.
They are printed here in Manchester, so if you need them for something on Thursday you can speak to someone about it rather than filling in a form and hoping. Send your artwork with your order and we will check it before anything goes on press - if the bleed is missing or a logo is going to print soft, you will hear from us first, not after.
A business card is small, so the things that go wrong on one are always the same three. Get these right and it will print exactly as you designed it.
Finished size is 85 x 55 mm. If anything runs to the edge, set the artboard to 91 × 61 mm so there's 3 mm of bleed all round to trim off.
Keep text and logos at least 4 mm in from the edge - guillotines move by a fraction of a millimetre, and anything closer can end up looking off-centre.
Supply artwork at 300 DPI at final size. A logo pulled off a website is usually 72 DPI and will print soft.
Set colours in CMYK. Bright screen colours - electric blue, neon green - can't be made with ink and will shift a little on paper.
A print-ready PDF with fonts outlined is best. AI, EPS and high-resolution PNG or JPEG are fine too.
