Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about ordering custom print & embroidery from us. Can't see your answer? Request a quote or email us and we'll help.

Ordering & quotes
How do I place an order?

The easiest way is to Request a Quote - tell us what you want, how many, and upload your artwork. We'll come back with a price and a proof to approve. You can also browse the shop, or design your own in the Print Studio.

How much does printing cost?

Price depends on four things: the garment, the print method, the number of print positions/colours, and the quantity. Bigger runs bring the unit price down a lot. The quickest way to a firm figure is to request a quote - it only takes a minute.

Is there a minimum order?

No minimum on most printed garments - we're happy to do a single item or a one-off. Screen printing and wholesale runs are far better value at higher quantities, so we'll always show you the price breaks when we quote.

Do you offer discounts for bulk?

Yes - the more you order, the cheaper each item gets, especially with screen printing where the setup is shared across the run. Ordering for a club, team, event or business? Ask about trade pricing.

Can I get a sample first?

Absolutely. For big runs we'd always recommend a pre-production sample so you can check the garment, size and print before we produce the full order. Just mention it when you quote.

Artwork & design
What artwork format should I send?

We work best with vector files (PDF, AI, EPS or SVG) as they scale to any size without losing quality. High-resolution PNG (transparent background) or JPG at 300dpi at print size are fine for most jobs too.

If what you send isn't print-ready we'll tell you before anything goes on a garment, so nothing gets printed at a quality you wouldn't be happy with.

I don't have a design - what are my options?

We don't design artwork from scratch, but you can put one together yourself in a couple of minutes in our Print Studio - upload a photo or a logo, add text, position it on the garment and see exactly how it will look before you order. Already have a logo? Send it over and we'll print it.

Will I see a proof before you print?

Always. We send a digital proof showing your design, position and colours on the garment. Nothing goes to print until you're happy and have approved it.

Is there a setup or origination fee?

For screen printing there's a small one-off screen charge per colour (waived or reduced on larger runs). DTG and DTF digital prints have no setup fee, which is why they're great for one-offs and full-colour designs.

Print methods
What print methods do you offer?
  • DTG (direct-to-garment) - full-colour prints straight onto the fabric, great for detailed designs and small runs.
  • DTF transfer - vivid full-colour transfers that work on almost any fabric and colour.
  • Screen printing - the classic method; unbeatable value and durability on large runs.
  • Vinyl - perfect for names, numbers and simple text/logos.
  • Embroidery - premium stitched finish for workwear and polos.
Which method is right for my job?
  • Small runs / lots of colours / photos → DTG or DTF.
  • Large runs / 1–4 colours → screen printing (best price per unit).
  • Names & numbers → vinyl.
  • Logos on workwear and polos → embroidery.

Not sure? Tell us the design and quantity and we'll recommend the best option.

Can you match a specific (Pantone) colour?

Yes - for screen printing and embroidery we can match to Pantone references for brand-accurate colour. Digital (DTG/DTF) prints are very close but can vary slightly between fabrics and screens, so if exact colour is critical let us know and we'll advise the best method.

How durable are the prints?

Very - all our methods are wash-tested for everyday wear. Screen prints and embroidery are the most hard-wearing; DTG/DTF hold up brilliantly when cared for properly (see below).

How should I wash printed garments?

To keep prints looking their best: turn the garment inside out, wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle, avoid harsh detergents/bleach, don't tumble dry, and don't iron directly on the print.

Garments & sizing
What can you print on?

T-shirts, hoodies, polos, sweatshirts, caps, bags, workwear, hi-vis and more - browse the full range. We also print banners and signage.

How do I choose the right size?

Garments are manufacturer-standard sizes - check the size guide on each product page before ordering. Because items are personalised, we can't refund for sizing where the size supplied was the size we printed, so order a sample if you're unsure on a big run.

Can I supply my own garments to print?

Often yes - but always ask us first. Some fabrics and finishes don't take print well, and printing on customer-supplied items is done at your own risk, so we'll talk it through before you send anything.

Delivery & collection
How long does it take?

Most printed garments are ready in 3–5 working days and embroidery in 5–7, from artwork approval. Print-only jobs are usually 2–4 working days. Got a deadline? Tell us - we can often turn things around faster. See Delivery info for details.

Can I collect, or do you deliver?

Both. Collection from our Manchester unit is free, and we deliver UK-wide by tracked courier - shipping starts at £3.75 and depends on the weight of your order. Full options are on our Delivery info page.

Do you offer a rush / express service?

Frequently, yes - depending on the method and our schedule. If you're up against a deadline, tell us the date when you enquire and we'll do our best to hit it.

Returns & problems
What's your returns policy?

Custom-printed items are made to order, so generally can't be returned for a change of mind. But if anything arrives faulty, damaged or not as approved, we'll reprint or refund - just contact us within 14 days. Full details on our Returns & Refunds page.

What if my order is wrong or faulty?

Get in touch within 14 days with a photo and your order details and we'll put it right - reprint or refund. We check every job before it leaves us, so problems are rare.

Still stuck? Request a quote or email sales@printmanchester.co.uk - we're happy to help.
